“Truth never damages a cause that is just.” ~Mahatma Gandhi~
I remember that feeling of guilt and of knowing I did something wrong. There are many moments in my life that this has happened. I have a guilty conscience and I can’t concentrate because this one thing is bothering me so much. Everyone around me appears to know what it is, I know it, I feel it, and its bothering me. Why can’t I focus on anything else? It was only a little lie but its eating me up inside. I’m just guessing but all of us lie and it’s more common than we think. I’m talking about all the little things that we lie about and most of the time it’s to spare someone’s feelings or to make someone feel better.
Now after that little lie some time has passed and you may have forgotten it but then one day somehow the truth comes out and you’re caught lying. You become embarrassed and the situation turns out to be pretty bad and there may be loss of trust in the future over something little. Such as… hey, did you eat the cookies, just admit it and say yes. This is just one part of the lies even those little lies but there are many more consequences to some of them. So let’s discuss compound interest it’s the greatest invention, you can exponentially increase your money, think of those little lies just like compound interest they add up and multiply to become this gigantic monster on your back that you can’t get rid of.
This gigantic monster will eat at your conscience and drain your energy. This little lie can turn into more and more lies, then they become huge lies which can ruin your reputation, relationships, friendships, and hey maybe even your life.
Well here is the bright side. Just be honest and you will not have to ever worry about any gigantic lie monsters on your back. Live with a clear conscience, make better decisions in life, and live happy. Being honest saves you energy and helps out the person who you thought you were being nice to in the end.
Just to be clear there are also little white lies and if your mother in-law asks you if you love her new drapes? Respond, I love them 🙂
Wow that was intense. Thank you for reading my blog about being honest and living happy 🙂

You got me smiling about the white lie and the mother-in-law example. I like your sense of humour.
