How many times have you said DON’T today?
Its probably multiple times.
Don’t doesn’t work.
It makes us do more don’ts.
Living a more positive life comes down to positive reinforcement.
Focus on what to do instead of what not to do.
Here is a great example. I remember seeing signs on the highway which used to say “Don’t Drink and Drive”.
Have you noticed the signs now say something like “Drive sober or get pulled over”.
This is positive its telling you what to do and the consequences to reinforce the positive action.
Next time you’re thinking about not doing something make it in to something else.
Instead of I’m not going to eat (insert junk food here)
I’m going to eat a (healthy snack here)
This simple example works in almost any situation.
